Cloud Chase

Privacy policy

Sep 30, 2026 · Orion Lab Studios

The short version

Cloud Chase is built to collect as little as possible. This policy applies from the day the game launches.

  • The story mode and the runs send nothing about you. Your progress is saved on your own phone.
  • We ask your birth month and year once. We keep only an age group on your phone and never send it anywhere.
  • Cloud Duel, our online mode, is for players 16 and over. Unity runs it for us using an anonymous player ID, a made-up name and your friends list. There is no real name, no email and no chat.
  • The world ranking shows the best endless runs. If you are 16 or over, your best Eternal Wake distances go to it with the anonymous player ID and a name you choose for the board. Under 16, nothing about you is sent: you still see the top 100, and the game works out on your phone where you would place.
  • Cloud Chase will show ads. The first test versions may have none. Before ads arrive, this policy will name the ad provider and exactly what it receives (see "Ads" below). Players under 16 only ever see ads that are not personalised.
  • You can delete your Cloud Duel data in Settings at any time. We do not sell your data.

Who we are

Cloud Chase is made by Orion Lab Studios ("we", "us"). For the personal data described here, we are the "controller": we decide how it is used.

Contact us about privacy, or to delete your data, at orionlabstudios@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.

What we collect and why

Most of Cloud Chase collects nothing. Only Cloud Duel and the world ranking involve personal data.

Age screen (once, at first launch)Only an age group (under 13, 13 to 15, or 16 and over), kept on your phone. Your birth date is never stored or sentTo give you the right featuresLegal obligation to protect childrenYour phone only
Cloud Duel (16 and over)An anonymous Unity player ID and sign-in token. A made-up player name, like Name#1234. Your friends list, friend requests and the players you block. Your party. Your runner's position during a race. Your IP address, and the approximate region Unity works out from itTo run online races with your friendsTo provide the service you asked forUnity Technologies, working for us
World ranking (16 and over)The same anonymous Unity player ID. The name you type for the board. Your best Eternal Wake distance this week and of all time. Other players see the name and the distance, never the IDTo show the worldwide ranking, weekly and all-timeTo provide the service you asked forUnity Technologies, working for us
World ranking (under 16, or not signed in)Nothing about you is sent. The game downloads the public top 100 (names and distances) like any web page, so the site that hosts it sees your IP address, as every website doesTo show the ranking and where your best run would placeNone neededGitHub, which hosts our website

We do not use analytics, crash reporting or Unity's engine diagnostics. We never ask for your real name, email, contacts, photos, microphone or precise location, and there is no chat. The only thing you can type that other players see is your name on the world ranking: it is checked against a list of words that are not allowed, and any player can report it or block it. Reports come to us by email, and we remove names that break the rules.

Ads

Cloud Chase will include ads: a short ad after some runs, and optional ads a player can choose to watch for a reward, like a second chance or opening a chest. The first test versions may not show any ads. Before ads are switched on, we will update this policy with:

  • the name of the ad provider and a link to its privacy policy;
  • exactly what the provider receives. For ad services this is usually the device's advertising ID, IP address, device model and system, and which ads were seen or tapped.

How we will handle it:

  • Personalised ads only with permission. On iPhone, the game will ask before any tracking (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). In the EU, UK and Switzerland, it will ask for consent before personalised ads. If you say no, you still get ads, but they won't be based on tracking you.
  • Players under 16 only get non-personalised ads, set up in the provider's child-safe settings, based on the age group the game already keeps on the phone.
  • Changing your mind: you can withdraw permission at any time. On iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings. In the EU, UK and Switzerland, the game will also let you change your ad choice in its Settings.
  • California and similar US state laws: personalised ads can count as "sharing" personal information. You can opt out at any time by declining tracking, deleting your advertising ID, or emailing us. We honour Global Privacy Control signals where the law requires it.

Children

Cloud Chase is made for players 13 and over, but it protects younger players who find it anyway.

  • At first launch, before any online code starts, the game asks for your birth month and year. Only the resulting age group stays on the phone.
  • Under 16: Cloud Duel is switched off, so no Unity account is created. The world ranking still shows the top 100, from a public file that carries nothing about the player; their own runs are never sent and they cannot type a name for the board.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 in the EU.
  • If you are a parent and think your child's data reached us, email orionlabstudios@gmail.com. We will delete it.

Who we share data with

Today we share personal data with one partner, and nobody else. When ads are added, the ad provider will be listed here too:

  • Unity Technologies runs Cloud Duel and the world ranking for us: sign-in, friends, parties, race connections and the ranking's names and distances. It acts on our instructions (Unity privacy policy).

Our website, including the public ranking file, is hosted by GitHub. Like any website host it sees the IP address of each device that loads a page or the file (GitHub privacy statement). We receive nothing from those visits.

Names on the world ranking are public: other players, and anyone who reads the public ranking file, can see them with their distances.

Every partner that handles data for us must protect it at least as well as this policy does, and use it only to provide its service to us.

We do not sell personal data.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect players and the game from fraud or abuse.

How long we keep it

Your age group and game progressOn your phone until you delete the game
Cloud Duel account, name and friendsUntil you delete them in Settings or ask us to. If Cloud Duel shuts down, we delete them

Your choices and rights

You can act on your data without writing to anyone:

  • Delete your Cloud Duel data: Settings > Delete my Cloud Duel data. This deletes your Unity account, your name, your friends list, the players you blocked, and your name and distances on the world ranking.
  • Change or report a name on the world ranking: your own name from the Ranking screen; anyone else's with Report on their row.
  • Withdraw consent: any permission you gave (for example, for personalised ads once they exist) can be withdrawn at any time, as described under "Ads".
  • Everything else: email orionlabstudios@gmail.com and we answer within 30 days.

Your rights by region

  • EU, UK and Switzerland: You can see, correct, delete, restrict, move, or object to the use of your personal data. You can withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
  • California and other US states with privacy laws: you can know, delete and correct your data. We never treat you differently for using these rights.

Security, transfers and changes

  • Security: Cloud Duel sign-in travels over HTTPS, and race data is encrypted. We collect only what each feature needs, and restrict who on our team can reach the Unity dashboard.
  • Transfers: Unity may process data in the United States and other countries. Where EU or UK law requires it, those transfers use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
  • Changes: if we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For important changes, we also tell you in the game before they apply.
